Unity in Diversity
By the Students of Sri Ara
Dear Parents & Students of Sri Ara Schools,
Yet another year has just flown by and it seems at lightning speed! We can hardly stop to take a breather and before we know it is time for the Annual Dinner Concert once again and for me to sum up the year.
The year, 2011 has had its fair share of ups and downs. The “ups” were endorsement of the Sri Ara International School by the MOE and good results from last year’s 2010 Form Five students, Shamine Iznina and Year 11 students, Pretasheeny who scored a distinction in Accounting whilst Shamine had distinctions in Mathematics, Bahasa Melayu and English.
This has been followed by Distinctions from Thulasie of Form 3 and Saki of Year 6 for the English Assessment from University …
Dear Parents & Students,
We are happy to see everyone back in school and we hope everyone is well rested and ready to face the challenges ahead. There are a few activities coming up soon, such as the Parent-Teachers’ Day, SRC Trip, Telematch Day etc.
ECAs will start from next week onwards and end on July, to accommodate the fasting month of Ramadan, exam preparations and so on.
This will be held on Saturday, 9 July from 9 am to 12 noon. It is a good opportunity for you to discuss your children’s studies with the respective teachers, so please do come.
Refreshments will be served at Block No. 23 in the Art Room, all are welcome!
The dates for the SRC trip are tentatively fixed from 28 to 30 July. The destination has yet to be finalised by the Student Council.
Dear Parents & Students
We are proud to announce that the students collected about RM612.60 from the ‘Mufti’ held last week. This included donations by some of our parents.
The main event for the charity drive for the Japan disaster fund will be the Food & Funfair and Jumble Sale, this Saturday 9 April. It will be a replacement day for the school so attendance is compulsory. Students will have to be in school by 8 am and go home at 3 pm.
We urgently need parents and students to help with this event. More specifically:
We need donations of clothes, books, toys or anything else you have lying around that we can sell. It won’t be much of a sale if there is nothing to buy or sell. Cash donations would be more than welcome too of course!
We need volunteers, parents who …
Traffic flow during peak drop off and pick up times at building No. 23 has not been smooth lately due to limited space. Therefore, we have cleared the parking area to make it easier for parents to park and pick up or drop your children off. Please adhere to this traffic flow diagram at all times (noting the advised left turn out of the gate for your own safety):
To ease traffic flow, secondary school students should be picked up or dropped off at building No. 13 during and shortly before or after normal school hours. At any other time, please use No.23.

Pupils are once again invited to participate in the annual International Competition and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) examination program run by the University of New South Wales.
ICAS is an examination program that has been available to students throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Pacific region and South Africa for the last 30 years.
The exams provide an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation.
Furthermore, it provides both schools and teachers with comprehensive reporting results and gives parents helpful information regarding their child’s performance.
All students receive a certificate and an individual report indicating which questions were answered correctly as well as the average marks for the region.
In previous years, Sri Ara students have attained many ICAS distinctions, placing the recipients in the top 10% of students in Malaysia.
We would love …
